Day 1: Tangier to Chefchaouen
After breakfast at the MINZAH hotel in Tangier, our journey begins at 09:00 as we head towards Chefchaouen. Nestled in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is a town steeped in mystery and history. It was founded as a secret enclave to launch attacks against the Portuguese, hence the strict prohibition against European entry until the arrival of Spanish troops in 1920.
Chefchaouen’s allure lies in its captivating aesthetic—its streets are adorned with buildings painted in shades of white and blue, creating a striking contrast against the backdrop of the mountains. As we navigate through its labyrinthine alleys, we’ll be greeted by the warmth and hospitality of its inhabitants.
Declared a biosphere reserve, Chefchaouen is not only known for its picturesque charm but also for its serene ambiance. It exudes an aura of tranquility, offering visitors respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
During our free day in Chefchaouen, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the city at your own pace. Wander through its narrow streets, adorned with vibrant handicrafts and local artwork. Discover hidden gems around every corner, from quaint cafes to bustling marketplaces.
As the day comes to a close, we’ll retreat to our hotel in Chefchaouen, where you can unwind and reflect on the day’s adventures. With its peaceful ambiance and captivating beauty, Chefchaouen promises an unforgettable experience for all who visit.
Day 2: Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes and Fez
After a delightful breakfast, you’ll have some free time to explore the enchanting blue medina of Chefchaouen, nestled amidst the majestic Rif mountains. As you wander through its winding streets and alleys, adorned with picturesque blue and white houses, you’ll be enveloped in a sensory journey. Immerse yourself in the sights, smells, and sounds of this captivating town, allowing yourself to be swept away by its charm and beauty.
Following our time in Chefchaouen, we’ll embark on the next leg of our journey towards Fez. En route, we’ll pass through the scenic Mamora forest, a verdant expanse that adds to the natural splendor of our surroundings. About 27 kilometers from Meknes, we’ll make a stop to stretch our legs and take a leisurely stroll around its bustling square, soaking in the atmosphere of this historic city.
Our next destination is the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, renowned for its remarkable archaeological remains dating back to the Roman era. You’ll have ample time to explore these fascinating ruins, wandering among the well-preserved structures and marveling at the remnants of an ancient civilization.
Finally, we’ll arrive in Fez, where we’ll spend the night in a traditional riad nestled within the heart of the medina. Prepare to be enchanted by the labyrinthine streets, vibrant markets, and rich cultural heritage of this historic city as you settle in for a restful evening.
Day 3: Fez Historical and Panoramic Tour
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we’ll embark on a guided tour of Fez, immersing ourselves in the rich tapestry of history and culture that defines this ancient city. As we step into the labyrinthine streets of the medina, we’ll be transported back in time, encountering a vibrant tableau of daily life that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
The medina pulsates with activity, its narrow lanes bustling with the constant movement of people and donkeys laden with goods. We’ll marvel at the intricate guild structure that still thrives here, with artisans practicing age-old crafts in their workshops.
Wandering through the labyrinthine streets, we’ll encounter enchanting neighborhoods such as the Andalusian quarter, where echoes of a bygone era resonate in the architecture and ambiance. Magnificent mosques and Koranic schools grace the landscape, bearing testament to Fez’s enduring legacy as a center of study and religiosity.
Throughout our guided tour, we’ll delve into the rich history and cultural heritage of Fez, gaining insights into its significance as the spiritual capital of Morocco. After a day filled with exploration and discovery, we’ll retire to our hotel for a delicious dinner and a restful night’s accommodation, ready to continue our journey with memories of Fez’s timeless charm.
Day 4: Fez, Rabat & Asilah
After breakfast, we’ll set out on our journey to Asilah, with a stop in Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Here, we’ll have the opportunity to explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Royal Palace, the mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower, and the picturesque Kasbah Oudaya. These historic sites offer glimpses into Morocco’s rich cultural heritage and royal history.
In the afternoon, we’ll resume our journey towards Asilah, a charming coastal town known for its serene beaches and beautiful white Medina. Upon arrival, you’ll have the chance to relax, take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters, and stroll through the narrow streets of the Medina, adorned with stunning white-washed buildings and colorful murals.
As the day comes to a close, we’ll check into our hotel in Asilah, where you can unwind and enjoy a peaceful evening, soaking in the tranquil ambiance of this coastal gem.
Day 5: Tangier Airport Drop Off
After breakfast, we’ll arrange for your transfer to Tangier, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant city. Tangier boasts a fascinating blend of cultures, with influences from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
During your time in Tangier, you can visit iconic landmarks such as the Kasbah Museum, the historic Medina, and the picturesque Tangier Corniche. Take a stroll along the bustling streets, browse the vibrant souks for unique souvenirs, and soak in the breathtaking views of the Strait of Gibraltar.
